The Beginnings of the Common Cookie

Our journey at The Common Cookie began with a simple idea, a dash of whimsy, and a sprinkle of faith. I'm Tasha, the heart and soul behind this sweet endeavor, where everyday moments are transformed into extraordinary memories through the magic of baking. Welcome to our world of delightful treats, where the common becomes uncommonly good.

In 2010, our adventure took a delicious turn when I entered the Washington State Fair's Wilton Cake Contest on a whim. I crafted a snickerdoodle basket cake adorned with fondant leaves, a creation that still holds a special place in my heart. Winning the grand prize on my first attempt was a sweet surprise, fueling my passion for baking even further.

In 2011, an invitation to conduct baking demonstrations at the fair opened new doors. My signature talk, "The Science Behind the Best Chocolate Chip Cookie," became a hit, sparking curiosity about whether The Common Cookie was more than just a dream. I embraced these moments until 2019, sharing my love for baking without imagining where it would lead.

2020 - 2023

Then came 2020, a year that unexpectedly changed everything. The pandemic forced a pause, but it also became a catalyst for transformation. Baking at home and sharing my creations became my solace and joy. Encouraged by friends and loved ones, I took a leap of faith, and in 2021, The Common Cookie was officially born.

Despite a slight detour from our original name, the essence of our mission remained unchanged: to craft delicious, gluten-free cookies without compromising on taste.

2024 - Present

In 2024, we took another leap and opened a commercial bakery in Buckley, WA, allowing us to expand into wholesale offerings for retail locations. What started as a small operation quickly grew—we began with just two employees and have now expanded to a team of four part-time employees and two seasonal staff members. With this growth, we've been able to bring our gluten-free treats to even more coffee shops, markets, and specialty retailers.

What started as a personal passion has now become a thriving bakery, serving our local community and beyond. From coffee shop collaborations to market pop-ups, our cookies have found their way into the hands and hearts of so many—each bite a reminder that gluten-free can be just as indulgent, if not more.
